Two of our members, Don Williamson and Bob DeWolfe, attended the Pickle Night Dinner held by HMS PSCHE Canadian Maritime Heritage Society (www.hmspsyche.ca) at the Port Credit Yacht Club on November 9Th.

HMS PICKLE was a topsail schooner attached to the British fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar and was chosen to carry the dispatch of the battle back to the Admiralty in London. She made landfall in Falmouth, Cornwall on 4 November. Lt Lapenoteire traveled the 271 miles to London in 36 hours with 21 changes of horses to deliver the news to the Admiralty. Many C&PO’s Messes celebrate “Pickle Night” rather than Trafalgar with a mess dinner.
