An eight gun bomb vessel launched in 1694, she was the first ship to be HMS STAR. In 1710 she, with HMS DRAGON(54) & FALMOUTH (50), was part of a squadron that, on 24 September, 1710, began a successful five month siege of the French post of Port Royal, founded by the French in 1632 and successor to the earlier Habitation, founded by Samuel de Champlain in 1605. The name of the captured post was changed to Annapolis Royal and its reconstruction is a few miles from the former navy new entry training base, HMCS CORNWALLIS. This ship was wrecked in the West Indies on 29 May, 1712 while engaged against French colonial interests.
