A series of five framed displays about scientists who made war-winning or life-saving discoveries, donated anonymously to STAR, and located in the Main Flats:

  • Alan Mathison Turing, OBE – Father of Computer Science & codebreaker
  • Robert William Boyle – pioneer in the development of ASDIC/SONAR
  • Sir Alexander Fleming – inventor of penicillin
  • Sir Charles F Goodeve – instrumental in the development of the Hedgehog anti-submarine mortar & degaussing ships for protection against magnetic mines
  • Sir Robert Watson-Watt – Pioneer of radar
