Borrowing from Canada’s motto, A mari usque ad mare, and with reference to the St. Lawrence River (and the Great Lakes) as Canada’s fourth maritime boundary and the North geographic pole as our northern terminus, we have adopted as a motto and toast: “A mari usque ad mare, et a flumine usque ad terminos terrae” ( From sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth), with the motto of the RCN as a response: Parati vero parati (Ready Aye Ready).
