Background information:

St. Georges Church at HMCS Cornwallis was the first protestant church erected at an RCN establishment in October 1950. (see Dec 1950 Crowsnest Clipping attached)

The altar cross was generously donated by HMCS Star and the Hamilton Naval Association to NavRes HQ at CTT in August.

The Holy Trinity Cathedral (1793) is the oldest Anglican Cathedral outside the British Isles.

The cathedral is also the seat of the King when in Quebec and final resting place of the 4th Duke of Richmond, Lennox, and Aubigny, Governor General of British North America.

The altar cross has been installed in the war memorial at the front doors between the WWI and WWII memorials visited by tens of thousands of visitors each year and to pay tribute to the enduring connection with the naval reserves (there is a RNCVR plaque for LCdr Murray, HMCS Niobe TrgO and telegraphist, killed in the Halifax explosion in 1917 within).
